More Than A COVID Cleaning Service

ServiceMaster Fire And Water Cleanup Services was contacted by the operations manager of a massive 800,000 square feet distribution center in the Chicago suburbs. The operations manager had just learned that several employees working on shifts all week at the distribution center tested positive for the coronavirus. The management immediately shut down operations for 24 hours - a difficult thing to do with hundreds of employees working different shifts. Our company was called in to immediately provide emergency cleaning & disinfection services.

THE PROBLEM

Devising a plan for ServicesMaster to complete the disinfection in 1 day for re-opening.

THE PLAN

ServiceMaster's lead technician Sam, advised his crew to split into groups and sanitize every room in order.

OUR WATER DAMAGE CLEANUP PROCESS

Step 1: Planning

The teams worked together to hand wipe high touch surfaces with an EPA approved disinfectant (dwell time of ten minutes) and used electrostatic foggin/spraying machines to apply an antimicrobial solution that can kill microorganisms on surfaces for up to 90 days.

Step 2: Office Area

In the office areas, the crew focused on disinfection of high touch surfaces suchdoor handles, desks, chairs, and chair arms, file cabinets, tables, copy machines, and items such as control boards, remotes, button contros, digital screens, and keyboaards.

Step 3: Common Areas

In the common areas, the technicians made sure to disinfect all high touch surfaces including tables, chairs, vending machines, water dispensers, coffee machines and appliances, bathroom stalls, toilets, sinks, mirrors, doors, all handles, fixtures and so on.

RESULTS

At completion of the cleaning and disinfection project, the Operations Manager was given several Certificates of Disinfection to post up on premises. This Certificate informs the employees what cleaning services were completed and sends a positive message that management does indeed care about its employees. Overall management was pleased that ServiceMaster Fire & Water Cleanup Services was able to complete the cleaning and disinfection services within one day so they could re-open the distribution center for the first shift the next day.
